The Regency period has fascinated me since reading Georgette Heyer as a teenager and yearly since then. As well as studying Jane Austen in school- although when we saw Pride and Prejudice as a play in high school, I think everyone thought it was terrible. It was terrible. Thank goodness for Colin Firth and the modern swoon-worthy version complete with Mr Darcy emerging from the lake in his wet shirt.
Since becoming a fan of modern Regency, Georgian and Victorian Romance, I started writing entries to the Romance Writers of Australia Short Story contests.
In 2019 my story 'The Tiger's Eyes' was included in the Little Gems anthology 'Tiger's Eye', and in 2021 my story 'Hot Chocolate and Heaven' is in the Sweet Treats anthology 'Chocolate'. Chocolate won an ARR (Australian Romance Readers) award for best anthology of 2021. Since then 'Dreaming of Iced Creams' is in the 2022 Ice Cream anthology and 'Lolly-Pop Love' is in the 2023 Lollipop anthology.
In 2023, I also got spicy with 'Girls just want to have...SILK' in the Spicy Bites Silk anthology.
Last year, 2024, my novella 'The Prince's Parrot' was included in 'The Regent's Menagerie' Sweet Volume organised by the wonderful Ebony Oaten and Catherine Bilson.
Hopefully this year the Novellas will be published separately and I am planning a volume of my short Regency stories:)
The anthologies are or will be available on the RWAus website
